Ignis Community granted a 9-month exemption from UN sanctions to allow the export to the DPRK of necessary medical and rehabilitation equipment for the Pyongyang Spine and Rehabilitation Centre (PYSRC)

On 21 July 2022, the Dallas, Texas, based Director of the Pyongyang Spine and Rehabilitation Centre (PYSRC) wrote to the Security Council 1718 Sanctions Committee requesting an exemption to allow for the second shipment to the DPRK of necessary medical and rehabilitation equipment for the PYSRC’s unit at the Pyongyang Medical School Hospital Spine and Pediatric Behavioral and Developmental Disabilities Treatment and Research Center.

The Committee granted the request on 12 August 2022 and requires the Ignis Community to transfer the items outlined in their request letter within the usual 9-month timeframe the Committee allows. Details of the equipment to be supplied can be found in the annex of the Committee’s approval note verbale which is here.
